The TIFF Bell Lightbox will open this fall with special guests and events already lined up for its inaugural program.

Films on TIFF's Essential 100 list will be introduced and discussed by internationally renowned industry guests. The list includes Canadian masters David Cronenberg and Michael Snow; actor and director Isabella Rossellini; author and creator of Dexter, Jeff Lindsay; cult director John Waters; writer, scholar and film critic Molly Haskell; film editor and sound designer Walter Murch; and director, author and raconteur Peter Bogdanovich.

Some of the silent films on the list will also be accompanied by live music by noted classical and popular musicians. On the roster are Michael Nyman's score for "Man with a Movie Camera," Toronto's Do Make Say Think on "Greed."

Weekend events will include restored films with a discussion by Academy Film Archive Director Michael Pogorzelski, as well as special Halloween and Nuit Blanche programming. Exclusive engagements of contemporary and classic films will start on September 23, with screening of films including "The Godfather," "Metropolis," Yael Hersonski's Hot Docs winner, "A Film Unfinished."
